CEREAL BOX RECONSTRUCTION
For this project I deconstructed a cereal box of our choosing, and rearranged all the elements in ways that exhibited my grasp of the three A’s of design: asymmetry, ambiguity, and alignment. Each composition builds on the previous one, with the final one breaking out of two-dimensional space and back onto a cereal box, while still maintaining the playfulness of the Cap’n Crunch brand.
Poster 1
For the first poster, I scanned the original cereal box to extract all of its visual assets. Color was removed so that the composition focused on the relationship the forms have with each other, while still keeping the overall feel of the brand.
POSTER 2
The second poster replaces all of the text and cereal box imagery with geometric shapes. The emphasis of the composition shifts from the elements within it to the space itself, and to how the shapes relate to it and each other.
POSTER 3
In this poster, original assets of the box are reintroduced alongside geometric shapes and any additional imagery that might strengthen the composition, or reinforce the air of whimsy and playfulness that’s a trademark of the Cap’n Crunch brand.

The final facet of this project was to create a composition that spans every side of the box, with each face able to stand as its own composition as well. There were no constraints to the elements used here besides making sure to include all of the text from the original cereal box.
